Papillon a Microsoft Authorised Refurbisher
Posted by 3D-Outreach on 25 April 2007This past week the Papillon Foundation received confirmation that it has been appointed as a Microsoft Authorised Refurbisher for South Africa. The Papillon Foundation now becomes one of only 3 authorised refurbishers in this country. 3D-Outreach works in a close relationship with the Papillon Foundation, providing them with skilled IT volunteers to aid them in maintaining their computer training centres and now to assist with building a refurbishment centre.
This is exciting news for us as we continue to build on our relationship with the Ppaillon Foundation. For the past months we have been actively involved in refurbishing donated computers for use in computer training centres run by the Papillon Foundation. The training centres run a PC and Web course, which is a basic computer literacy course, and also the ICDL (International Computer Drivers Licence) course, which is an internationally recognised qualification in computer literacy. Currently there are 200 students involved in the City Life project attending the PC and Web training course as well as a large number of individuals involved in the PC and Web and ICDL courses.
The addition on the refurbishers licence will enable the Papillon Foundation to enhance their skills training even further. 3D-Outreach In cooperation with the Papillon Foundation will be able to assist unskilled individuals in obtaining an IT technical skill through an apprenticeship process. At the same time the Papillon foundation will benefit from being able to market and sell refurbished computers to other social outreach organisations at a very low cost.
3D-Outreach hopes to be able to assist the Papillon Foundation with skilled IT support to help build this into an effective ministry. The project will have 3 goals in mind
1) To provide refurbished computers to worthy social outreach projects ant very low cost
2) To provide skills training through an apprenticeship program
3) To provide a sustainable income to the Papillon Foundation and to the apprentices working on the skills program.
We are all excited to see how God is working through the Papillon Foundation and how he is opening up new opportunities to give value to people’s lives.
