Solar Powered Intern Team
Posted by 3D-Outreach on 16 August 2007After weeks and weeks of research we managed to source two solar panels for our intern team in Mozambique. This was extremely exciting, since the team had been without any form of electricity for the last four months.
The solar panels charge a 100 Amp battery, which the team can now use for lights and their laptop (which they need for assignments, since they are all studying theology correspondence). The lights are special 12 volt, 8 watt energy saving lamps which we could only find in Nelspruit – after much prayer!! It was a fascinating learning curb for us.
We went up to Mozambique on Tuesday (7 Aug) to install the solar panels and lights for the team and while we were there, we had the opportunity to see more of their ministry.
The team has become involved in playing basketball and soccer with the youth in the area (note the pole in the middle of the soccer field), as well as bible studies and English lessons. They have also planted their own vegetable garden and are becoming quite adept at life in Mozambique. They have built some beautiful friendships with people and even adopted a puppy! All in all, we are really proud of them!!
We are hoping to send a short term team up to them at the end of August to assist them in completing their home and joining them in ministry. Please continue to pray for them as they continue on this journey – it can be very taxing being away from family and friends.
