Weston College – Training and Outreach

Posted by 3D-Outreach on 30 April 2008

After connecting with 3D-Outreach at summer camp 2007, the Student Christian Association (SCA) boys from Weston Agricultural College in Mooi River, requested we joined them at their school for a weekend, to provide some basic outreach training and take them into a local village to do some outreach work. This initiative was incredible, as it was solely the idea of the boys. They are a dynamic, incredibly fired up group that just want to have their hand in missions, serve God and touch lives.

On the 22nd February, we headed out to the school and had an incredible weekend! The school is designed around a farm setting where the boys are trained in most aspects of farming, equipped with life skills, and have a high academic standard. We were welcomed with incredible respect, friendliness and warmth.

We had some very basic training sessions with the boys on Friday evening and again on Saturday, wherein we were able to equip them with some basic outreach and missions tools. On Sunday, we joined hands with a missionary working in the surrounding rural villages and took the boys to visit and experience a rural village. There, they did door to door ministry, played soccer with the neighborhood children, told stories, and chatted to the locals.

The team from Weston were truly touched and blessed by what they saw and experienced. They are even more on fire than they were before and in a debriefing session, they shared of all the needs they had found within the village and how they are looking forward to returning in the near future to assist the locals in improving their homes and some of their basic ways of life.

We had an incredible weekend and learnt as much from the boys as we hope they did from us. We are excited about what God is going to continue to do in and through them as they reach out into their community with the love of Christ.
