From the 3rd to the 6th April, Michelle had the privilege of joining Benoni Baptist Church on an outreach to Flagstaff, a very rural and picturesque (and rather chilly!) location in the Transkei. Over the past while, teams from Benoni Baptist have been building a church near Flagstaff and the aim of this mission was to complete the new church’s floor.

The team faced several obstacles such as a lack of finances for building materials as well as a really small building team consisting of only four men. God provided in every aspect, however, and the weekend was a huge success. The four men managed to lay the whole floor and the four ladies on the team had an incredible time of kids’ ministry and AIDS ministry with the local woman and teenagers. We were also able to give out a large amount of clothing that had been donated to Benoni Baptist Church.

On Saturday evening, we screened the Jesus film to over 200 locals. Unfortunately, there was a problem with the DVD player and the film had to be shown in Afrikaans, but we prayed that the visuals would make a big enough impact. They definitely did, and there was a huge response to the altar call after the movie had finished.

All in all, the weekend was a tiring but very blessed one, even though it included the most rural and unpleasant long drop I have ever seen (and used)…quite an experience!
