Beyond a Missions Internship Year – Charlotte

Posted by 3D-Outreach on 5 August 2008

A Missions Internship Year is a life-changing experience. But it is not the end of the road; rather, it is part of the continuum of a life-changing walk with God. So what happens AFTER that year of missions experience? Some of our interns have gone on study, some have gone on to further ministry, and some have gone on to jobs. And one of our 2007 interns continued on as a second-year intern with 3D-Outreach.

Toward the end of last year, 3D-Outreach was approached by Benoni Baptist Church because they were looking for a full-time representative for them at Kids’ Haven, an outreach to orphaned and street children in Benoni. Several years ago, Benoni Baptist began to get involved with Kids’ Haven as a part of their outreach program to their community, but last year, they decided it was time to increase their involvement and began to look for someone full time. Charlotte, then an intern working in Xai Xai, Mozambique, was the perfect fit. With her visionary approach, her heart for children, and her passion for God, we knew that she would be a great benefit to Kids’ Haven and an ideal representative for Benoni Baptist Church.

In her own words, Charlotte describes how her Missions Internship Year prepared her for where she is today:

I am sure of who God is, I know the love of Christ, His power working through me, His existence in my life. I know my seat in the glories heavens. As I know that it is that glories seat that Christ has granted me when I was tired, weary, beaten and bruised by the works of the evil one. Christ’s love for me was able to make me endure all my past shortcomings so I could be where His grace has placed me now. I am now serving at Benoni Baptist in one of the ministries that the church is involved with, Kids Haven, a place of safety that takes care of abused and orphan children, street kids and children from broken and divorced families. I minister to them on a daily basis.

Charlotte has a great excitement for what God wants to do with the young people at Kids’ Haven. She is living to leave a legacy of Christ there which will last long beyond the end of her time there. We are very proud of Charlotte and the way she is pouring her life out for the glory of God.
