A Visit to the Intern Team

Posted by 3D-Outreach on 5 November 2008

Receiving reports from the field is always important, but having the opportunity to see the ministry firsthand is such a blessing. Some of the 3D-Outreach staff recently took a weekend trip to Gaborone, Botswana to visit the Intern Team at their ministry site. Our purpose was to encourage the team as they enter into the final three weeks of their internship experience as well as to take the opportunity to shoot some video footage of them “in action.”

While in Botswana, we visited the Thlamelo feeding scheme as well as a local church plant with Pastor James from Naledi Baptist Church. We also had the opportunity to participate in the Friday night youth event at Open Baptist Church, which happened to be a time of teaching accompanied by…a water balloon fight! Saturday morning was a friendly soccer match on the church grounds where the team is staying. It is amazing to see how the Intern Team has connected with the locals in Botswana and to know that they are leaving an indelible mark on the lives of all those they encounter.

We were taken around Gaborone by the local missionaries on Saturday afternoon and got a glimpse of some of the local wildlife at the Mokolodi Nature Reserve. Sunday morning we were a part of the morning service at Open Baptist Church where at least 37 different nationalities were represented! It was a great experience to be able to worship with so many others from around the world, but the highlight of our weekend as 3D-Outreach staff was just the opportunity to spend time with the Intern Team. We are looking forward to their return to Johannesburg for re-orientation on 16 November and give God glory for all He has done in and through them this year!!
