Intern Team Farewell

Posted by 3D-Outreach on 27 November 2008

The 2008 Intern Team has successfully completed their missions year program. After returning from Botswana – their third outreach – the Team stayed for an extra week in Johannesburg. This week was used to help the team members with re-orientation, debriefing and planning for the future.

At the end of this week, we took the Team to the Lion Park for a final social day. We also hosted a farewell event to congratulate the team members on “fighting the good fight, finishing the race and keeping the faith” (2 Timothy 4:7). We asked the team members to share what this year has been like for them:

There have been a lot of challenges this year during the various mission trips. These challenges have made me who I am now. Every situation brought about growth in my life and this I know for a fact. This year has encouraged me a lot on the subject of missions. I’m now excited about missions and I know that it will always be a part of my life. I saw the impact that missions made on people and saw how attitudes and perspectives changed and how many great relationships were built with people I would never have encountered before. Thank you for this amazing opportunity!

I have realised who I really am and I have come to accept myself. I have grown emotionally and spiritually in many new ways. One of the greatest is that I now know how to communicate with God. I also had the opportunity to learn about different kinds of ministry and how to cope with different kinds of people. I discovered that everyone is a missionary and that the gifts and talents that I have need to be used to worship and glorify God. Thank you for making this year possible and for all the things 3D-Outreach has done for me.

I have learnt that there is no way to run away from a problem. I’ve learnt that you need to allow God to work with you to solve situations and issues. In this way you become more and more like Christ. I have realised new things about my passion and calling through this year. I’ve been equipped to do things I couldn’t do before, like teaching Bible studies, setting up for open air concerts, building, children’s ministry and more. I now see that there are so many people who are hungry for the Gospel and we need to share what we know with them.

I have learnt and grown so much this year! God did a lot of heart surgery through this experience. I also gained so much from the three outreaches. I learnt how to run sports ministry clinics, how to do children’s ministry and youth ministry and lots more. I grew in confidence and finally found my passion. I have discovered that every person is a missionary and that all of us can use our skills to minister. I have completed this year and am walking into next year as a different person.

From the 3D-Outreach Staff and Supporters
We are extremely proud of all our Intern Team Members. We pray that God will continue to take them from strength to strength. Well Done!!
