Intern Team January Update

Posted by 3D-Outreach on 27 January 2009

It is amazing to think that the Intern Team has been with us for 3 weeks already! They started their training on 7 January and have been part of an intense program which consists of morning exercises, team and personal devotions, three sessions of lectures per day and team prayer and reflections. Weekends have been reserved mainly for outreaches and ministry exposure.

Thus far the Intern Team has been trained in children’s ministry, finance, ethnographic studies, counseling, youth ministry, missions, etiquette, first aid, prayer walks, team dynamics, and vehicle maintenance, among other things.

One of the most recent training and outreach exposures happened in Ladysmith this past weekend. The team visited Pastor Murray Tessendorf to learn about farming and agriculture as a tool for ministry. After a day and a half of lectures, the team was given the opportunity to put what they had learnt into practice.

The team went to a rural community in Rookdale to plant a community garden. This garden was planted on the pastor’s property and will be used to feed the unprivileged community members in the area. It was an amazing chance for the team to be involved in something that would have an impact on people, thus “leaving their mark” and showing God’s love to the community.

We are looking forward to the great things that are still to come!! This weekend the team will be attending a survival camp which will include training on stress management, team building, stretching personal limits, and disaster management.

Please continue to keep the team members in your prayers. Pray that God will strengthen them individually and as a team. Pray also that God will provide for their financial sponsorship as some of the team members are still struggling to raise support.
