Door-to-Door Delivery

Posted by 3D-Outreach on 26 February 2009

The first of our four scheduled 2009 Weekend Exposure Trips was held 20th-22nd February when we took a team of nine across the Beit Bridge border and headed north into Zimbabwe. The trip’s purpose was to assist Urban Life Church in Midrand in dropping off some much needed food parcels to the town of Chegutu.

When we arrived in Chegutu, we met up with the local pastor of the church who would distribute the food into the community. He directed us to his church and there we offloaded 2.4 tons of maize and food parcels. As we approached the village, we were surrounded by curious children who serenaded us with English gospel songs and dancing.

The offloading process took took approximately 2 hours, and after a time of prayer with the pastor and his family under a velvet black sky littered with millions of stars, we made our way on to Harare where we spent the night. On Sunday morning at 6am, we began the long journey home.

Although much of the trip was spent in transit, it was such a blessing to be able to minister to the practial needs of the community in Chegutu. It was also a powerful reminder that though they are struggling, they are not struggling alone as the Body of Christ around the world is standing with them in prayer and support.

We had an incredible trip and do not for one second take our safety or success of this trip for granted. We were covered by prayer (for which we thank you) and could feel the presence of the Lord with us continually! We give our Living God all the praise and all the glory.

We will be doing another food drop off to a different area in Zimbabwe on the 14th March. We covet your prayers for this trip as well and we look forward to giving you an update. Our next weekend trip will be taking place 15–17 May. Venue and cost are still to be confirmed. Please keep an eye out for further details on future weekend trips as they become available.
