Intern Team April Update

Posted by 3D-Outreach on 5 May 2009

AREA OF MINISTRY: Embalenhle, Secunda
MISSIONARY: Emmanuel Twala (Temple of Faith)
DURATION: 1 April – 30 April 2009

The Intern Team has just completed an amazing month of ministry working with Pastor Emmanuel Twala in the township of Embalenhle. They were hosted by members of the community during their stay and therefore had the opportunity to be truly immersed in the culture of the area. This also enabled them to achieve their goal of serving the local church by impacting the community.

The first two weeks of ministry consisted mainly of reaching out to the community through special evangelistic services held in a tent in an area where there is not yet a permanent church structure. Each team member participated in preaching and ministering during these meetings. They were also involved in doing practical tasks that were required such as putting up and taking down the tent between meetings, etc.

The second two weeks of their outreach included a diversity of ministry such as schools ministry, youth ministry, children’s ministry, hospital visitation, door-to-door visitation, and building meaningful relationships within the community. It was both a challenge and a blessing to the team members to be involved in a host of ministry opportunities.

It was only when the team left that they realised how much of an impact they had made during their month in Embalenhle. The people to whom they had ministered bid them sad farewells but have not stopped communicating with them via phone calls and messages since their departure. The team has also grown in experience, both personally and spiritually.

The interns returned to Johannesburg on the 30 April for a weekend of debriefing and orientation before heading out to their second month of outreach. Their next outreach is in a village called Madikwe about an hour outside of Rustenburg. There they will be working with Pastor Lesego Molokoane from 4 May – 30 May 2009.

Thank you to all the team’s financial supporters, prayer partners, and mentors for walking this amazing journey with them!!
