We set out on the morning of 14 June to drop the Intern Team off in Xai Xai, Mozambique. There was a mixture of excitement and anxious emotions stirred into one road trip. Some of the team members had never crossed African borders, some had never been to Mozambique, and none had ever done missions in a different country. As the team’s facilitators, we knew they were ready though.

There is some wonderful synergy that occurs on a road trip through Africa, especially one painted with the colours of opportunity – the opportunity to make a lasting impact for Christ through servanthood and love. Once we had crossed borders, the anticipation of reaching the village in Xai Xai grew rapidly. Every moment was worth the wait as we drove into the dusty surroundings of the team’s new home for the next two-and-a-half months.

The beauty and smell of the rural villages in Mozambique conjure up memories of rich relationships, precious people, and a deep hunger to know God. The fields are ripe unto harvest and the team now has the privilege of being a part of God’s greater plan for Mozambique. Working under the leadership and guidance of Wynand Jordaan, they will be involved in house visitations, teaching, and various other fields of ministry.

In this plethora of opportunities we are also vividly aware of the spiritual warfare that is and will continue to come against the work that is being done. We ask that you stand with us in prayer for the intern team and the ministry that Wynand is overseeing. Please pray for their protection against malaria, dissension, passport difficulties, and personal struggles. Pray that God would use this as a time to grow and strengthen each team member and that the work they are involved in will flourish beyond their wildest expectations.
