A new staff member
Posted by 3D-Outreach on 6 December 2013Greetings, my name is Mark Koekemoer, I am originally from East London, in South Africa. I grew up spiritually, at Cambridge Baptist church. Some of my hobbies are hiking, mountain biking (which is a hobby that I need to get back into), and I love playing golf as it is often a game that relaxes me when it all goes well.
I am very excited to be joining 3D-Outreach staff next year because of all the opportunities that I will be offered and the journey that I will be on. It will be an awesome time of growth and learning.
My journey to 3D-Outreach has been a very interesting one and one that I am grateful for. My preparation for this journey started when I applied at the Baptist Theological College. During this time I had been on many short term mission trips and served God full time in church ministry. This preparation was used by God to mould me into the person that he wants me to be.
The above years brought me to the point of asking myself where my heart is and asking God where He wants me to be. These questions were answered when I went on a short term mission trip to Mozambique in 2011, with the 3D-Outreach team; this trip was an experience that I will never forget. I came home from that trip saying: ‘God I feel that this is where you want me to be’. I have a passion to see the church being involved in local and foreign mission work. I want to be able to come alongside the church and say let us do this together. After seeking wise council I was urged to focus on and finish my studying that I needed to do. This year I came up from East London where I was studying via correspondence and did my 4th and final year in Johannesburg. I am grateful to say that I have now finished my studies and graduated Cum Laude. All praise and glory to God!
This year I had looked around at different mission options and ways to get involved, many organisations asked me where and how I would want to serve and I don’t have a heart for a specific country or people, I would say that I have a heart for Africa and seeing the church in Africa being used to reach the west. After a few meetings with Rolf and seeing the work that is done at 3D –Outreach, I felt that this could be a ministry to work with, due to the wide variety of area and tasks that are performed. After much prayer and seeking of wise council, I contacted Rolf to see what the possibility of joining the staff was, and the day I got the call to say welcome to staff was a very exciting day as I knew that I was doing what the Lord wanted me to do.
I am overjoyed regarding the year coming up because I will have the opportunity to serve God where I am passionate to serve and where he has gifted me to serve; and I am looking forward to all that is going to happen in the years to come.
