Summer camp has been going for over 30 years and has hosted many 1000’s of young people over the years. It is set in the heat of Barkley West – a small town just outside Kimberley, South Africa, on an awesome campsite.

This year’s camp hosted just over 800 young people from various churches throughout South Africa. What an amazing atmosphere that creates! It’s remarkable to see groups of teenagers doing devotions or spending time with their leaders, to see them worshipping our Awesome God or sitting under a tree reading their bibles.  There was lots of fun stuff happening, such as various sports, swimming in the slimy pool, skate boarding and even ping pong tables were put out. This was indeed close to heaven for a lot of those young people.IMG_8765

The camp speakers were Llewelyn Clayton from Cape Town and Brent Crowe from the States. They both had thought-provoking and amusing messages to share and we came away feeling challenged!

During the last 7 years, at camp, we have been involved in running missions training and then doing an outreach. There was no outreach this year, but we had the privilege of doing a workshop titled: “Living a life of significance”.  During the workshop, we gave them some tough questions to answer in groups, we had an interesting game using cereal boxes to put our point across and towards the end of the session, Nathan (our intern) gave a testimony. He shared about his year with us at 3D-Outreach and how this time had significantly changed his life and his future plans, in that he wants to devote his life to missions. It was an incredible honour to spend an hour challenging the IMG_8827 IMG_8831young people, at the beginning of their lives to make a difference in the world.

Over 2 days we had approx. 120 young people. It is always a privilege to see people grappling with real issues. A number of them came to speak to us afterwards and mentioned the need for change in their lives in order to touch someone else’s life for eternity’s sake. We pray that this seed that the Lord has planted would be watered throughout their lives. IMG_8823 IMG_8799
