WEA Youth Networking

Posted by 3D-Outreach on 4 April 2014

The World Evangelical Alliance is an international organization that intends to give a voice to more than 600 million evangelical Christians in 128 nations. It is a well-known group, and often referred to in evangelical circles as a good accountability partner by strengthening local churches, supporting leadership, and practically showing unity of the body of Christ.IMG_9520

In the beginning of the year, we received an email from the WEA asking if we would be a part of a youth consultation. They explained that there was an international road tour to identify and collaborate youth ministry in the different regions around the world, and be more strategic in youth ministry. Although 3D-Outreach is not a youth organization per se, we do have a lot of dealings with youth through our intern program and numerous other avenues in a mission environment, so we thought that it was worthwhile to join in the consultation.

We were right…

The consultation was held on a beautiful game lodge in Limpopo, South Africa. On arriving, we were shown to a magnificent bush house that was fit for a king with a huge kitchen and all the fittings you could think of, including a yellow wood table to seat 15 and enough beds to sleep 30. Drinks and snacks were provided and we met the rest of the consultation group representing South Africa, Zimbabwe and Zambia.

Initially we worked through a SWOT analysis of each Southern Africa country, identifying pertinent areas that needed to be focused on and others that had an incredible strength that was perhaps overlooked. This led into sessions of noting key players and ultimately writing a strategy for youth ministry according to the different regions.

At the end of the consultation days, we were blessed with a time on the game farm, viewing the beauty that God has created. We managed to see various kinds of animals from A-ntelope to Z-ebra. There was even time for a couple of us to try our hand at fishing at the local dam, during which some fish were caught with a rod, and some without…IMG_9598

After an incredibly tiring week, we reflect back and trust that God will develop what little we have put to paper. We look forward to reaching out to another lost generation – youth. IMG_9535
