A New Chapter
Posted by 3D-Outreach on 5 September 2009“In all the travels of the Israelites, whenever the cloud lifted from above the tabernacle, they would set out; but if the cloud did not lift, they did not set out – until the day it lifted.” – Exodus 40:36-37
“The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.” – John 3:8
Throughout both the Old and New Testaments, God has called His people to be a people ready to move on His leading, and He still asks the same of us today. Over the last several months, we at 3D-Outreach have been sensing that God wanted to make a location shift for our base of operation from the West Rand of Johannesburg to the East. On a practical level, this move has some clear advantages, most notably that it will bring us closer to the airport, which will allow us to better serve the missionaries with whom we work. On a spiritual level, we believe that this is the next phase for us in our growth as an organisation.
3D-Outreach wants to extend a great big THANK YOU! to the amazing team who assembled on the coldest, wettest day of 2009’s Johannesburg winter in order to pack and move our entire offices from the West Rand to the East Rand. It was no small task – carrying heavy furniture, packing as much as possible on the trailers, moving as fast as possible (partly just to keep warm!), and trying to keep everything dry – and we so appreciate the time, effort, and dedication of each and every one of you!! We are grateful for the part you have played in our history as an organisation and the part you will continue to play in our future – thank you!
Transitions such as these often offer us the opportunity to pause and examine what God has done in and through us. As we enter our fourth year of ministry as an organisation, we are able to look back and see God’s faithful hand throughout every aspect of the last three years. Since the inception of 3D-Outreach, God has been at work and we recognize first and foremost that this organisation is upheld by Him. He is our guidance, our wisdom, and our direction and we are so grateful that He has allowed us to partner with Him in His work on this earth.
From the very beginning, God has orchestrated meetings for us with key individuals and organisations. He has gone behind the scenes and prepared the way time and time again. He has sent angels to protect us on long and sometimes arduous journeys and he has softened the hearts of individuals who might try to stand in the way of the gospel. He has given us amazing opportunities to share times of fellowship with missionaries on the field, pray for the sick and downtrodden, come alongside churches, uplift individuals, and see lives transformed. In all of this, we have been able to fulfill our mandate in ways we never even imagined.
Over the past three years, we have sent three different intern teams to five different countries to serve eight different missionaries. We have consulted with over a hundred churches, challenging them to develop missions programs and assisting them in organising short-term trips where needed. We have done missions training for groups traveling to places like South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland, Mozambique and East Asia. We have been privileged to have been a part of three youth camps, helping to instill a passion for missions in the hearts of young people. We have been able to be a part of the development of individuals and organisations which are just launching into their own God-given visions. We have given many people a chance to experience foreign missions simply by creating missions opportunities through weekend exposure trips. We have been able to assist missionaries on the field by sourcing vehicles for furlough, sorting out computer problems, finding replacement vehicle parts, creating videos, transporting vehicles and trailers, assisting with paperwork, interviewing potential team members, and simply being an encouragement, among other things. We have traveled throughout much of southern Africa connecting with missionaries in order to discover their needs and how we can best meet those needs. We’ve taken trips to the United States and England to explore partnerships in other countries. We were able to be a part of relief efforts in South Africa and Mozambique. In essence, we have had the incredible privilege of witnessing and being a part of God’s global work.
Even as we look back over our last several years with fond memories, however, we are very excited for this new season into which God has called us as well. This move is a physical location change, but we recognize that it also represents the opening of a new chapter for us at 3D-Outreach. While our vision remains to be a resource and support to long-term missionaries, we know that the way in which God unfolds opportunities and circumstances is constantly changing. We are excited for the many possibilities before us. We recognize that God has been very good to us and that His faithfulness sustains us. As we turn our focus toward what is to come, we endeavor always to be carried on the wind of the Spirit. Thank you for joining us in this journey and for your continual prayers and support as we step into the dawn of the next chapter in 3D-Outreach history. The best is yet to come!
